Deer Fence Kits
All of our posts are round black coated steel posts with matching black caps and galvanized post sleeve inserts. All of our fence kits are removable. We don't offer posts described as 'garden posts' or 't-posts'. Those post types are designed to be stuck in the ground without support. Over time, especially when the ground freezes and then thaws, those post types will not continue to be level and can tilt one way or another. These post types are also not very sturdy for deer and wildlife exclusion. They are flat or rectangular and can be bent forward or back. Round posts distribute post strength evenly across their circumference. From our experience, we've put together the most affordable and effective kits available. A good amount of our customers are referred to us by neighbors and friends; It's important to us that each customer will not only have a fence that works but one that looks good out in the yard.
These fence kits are suitable for excluding deer and other wildlife from an entire area, creating a strong perimeter fence. This includes backyard areas (typical installations would start at the house, go into the backyard and return to the house for example), areas around an house (the entire perimeter is enclosed to the property line with a gate across the driveway), farms, vineyards, arboretums and similar applications. The deer fence posts included in these kits are heavy wall steel posts necessary for withstanding pressure from deer and other larger types of wildlife along a perimeter. This includes areas with heavy deer populations or areas with established deer paths.
These kits are designed to utilize some of the fence mesh (6" minimum) to create a flap bent to the outside and staked to the ground. This deters animals from being able to push up under the fence. Over time vegetation sediment will collect at the base of the fence to help secure it. After a year or two the fence will effectively bury itself.
Some necessary tools include sharp snips to cut through the fence mesh, a small sledge hammer to drive in post sleeves and a level. We suggest using a small magnetic level which is used to level the post sleeves and also the deer fence posts.
These kits are also a great idea if you're mostly using trees to suspend your deer fence but need to supplement large gaps between trees with posts.
