Coyote Fence Info – Coyote Fence Kits

Critterfence® offers a range of coyote-proof fence solutions to keep pests out of your yard or garden. Protect your pets and livestock with complete fencing kits and rolls.
Coyotes can be very persistent, especially when there is something on your property they want. They can dig, climb, and push beneath fencing to get through. A coyote-proof fence should be non-electric, built from durable and high-strength materials, and be customizable to your property and threat level.
Our fencing systems will have no wires to break, no batteries that go dead at critical moments, and highly rugged materials that physically keep coyotes out. Choose from our full selection of effective and affordable solutions.

Kits with Chew Barrier

Our most popular coyote-proof fence, this option consists of a high-strength poly fence combined with a metal chew base. The base has 1x1 black steel installed at 40" to 48" tall and between 6" and 12" overlapped and staked to the ground to prevent digging. The poly upper is hard for coyotes to climb, while the metal base handles chewing and digging.

Our all-steel kits feature a ground overlap to block out digging and nose pushing. This type of predator fence is ideal for applications where coyotes are known to test fencing for stability. We offer permanent and removable options for seasonal applications.

When you don’t need rodent prevention or digging isn’t a problem, our kits without a lower barrier are ideal. They are removable with posts that slide in and out of ground sleeves with no need for concrete or tools.
Properties with high coyote pressure may need kits with angled climb protection at the top to prevent predators from scaling over the fence. This kit adds post extensions and an overhead canopy that will turn climbing animals back. It makes a suitable predator fence upgrade where your conventional fence isn’t enough.
If you already have a wood, aluminum, or chain link fence, our retrofit kits extend your current fence height to make it a coyote-proof fence, without the need to start from scratch.

Why Choose Critterfence for Your Coyote-Proof Fence?

  • Nearly invisible: Our black poly and metal mesh disappears when viewed from a distance, keeping your view largely intact.
  • Non-electric: Our true physical wildlife fence doesn’t use shock as a deterrent, because electric fences are known to fail or injure wildlife and humans.
  • Fully customizable: You can customize our fences to choose the open size, height, material, and overlap you need to accommodate your property.
  • Removable or permanent: Our patent-pending ground sleeve systems don’t require concrete footings and allow you to take down the fence when needed.
  • Ships to you: Our products ship directly from our warehouses to your home with no middlemen involved.

Coyote Fence Frequently Asked Questions

How tall does a coyote-proof fence need to be?

You will need a minimum of six feet for a standalone fence, with high-pressure areas requiring closer to 7-8 feet. Shorter fences used as a chew barrier should be at least 48 inches with overlap.

Can coyotes dig under a coyote fence?

Yes. Digging is common with coyotes and is one of the primary ways they breach fences. An overlapped base staked to the ground or a buried footer is essential for wildlife fence systems meant to prevent digging.

What's the best coyote fence material?

The most popular material is our 1x1 black PVC-coated welded wire for the base, combined with a poly upper. This combination is effective against rust, climbing, and chewing while maintaining strength and low visibility.

How much does a predator fence cost?

Our fences can cost anywhere from $1-$10 per linear foot. This will depend on height, material, and whether you want to buy rolls or order a complete kit.
