Feral Pig Fence Info – Feral Pig Fence Kits

Critterfence® is the expert in creating effective, durable, and rugged fencing to exclude animals such as feral pigs from your property. Wild hogs can be a real problem for conventional fences. They root, push, and use their snouts to dig at the base of the fence line to find a way in. An effective hog fence addresses all of these issues: rooting, pushing, and digging.
Our fences don’t require electrical wires, which need replacement batteries and which are notorious for going out when you need them most. Our systems are made from high-strength poly or metal mesh and can be customized to suit your property and threat level.
We offer a range of hog fence options that can be purchased in a number of configurations to meet your requirements. They’re nearly invisible from a distance, so they blend into the landscape without sacrificing strength or effectiveness.

This hog fence features a poly upper combined with a lower chew-resistant metal base in 1x1 PVC-coated steel installed between 36 and 48 inches tall with a 6-12 inch overlap staked to the ground. The poly upper is also useful for keeping deer out, while the chew-resistant base creates a feral-proof fence to prevent rooting, chewing, and pushing at the ground level. The base also keeps out rabbits and other small pests.
These kits are an all-metal pig fence that comes with a 6-inch ground overlap staked around the perimeter. Built specifically for feral hogs that push beneath fences with their snouts, these fences are rugged enough to hold up against even the most persistent pigs. Install in either permanent or removable configurations.
This fencing kit works best for raised beds and hardscape areas or other locations where digging isn’t a concern. The posts slide and out of ground sleeves without the need for concrete or even tools, so it’s easy to remove this hog fence seasonally to reinstall the following year.
These are specially designed fence kits that include protection against climbing animals (keeps animals in, keeps animals out, or both). The posts include extensions on the top that create an overhead canopy animals can't climb over.
These all feral pig fence kits are completely enclosed with four sides and a top. Great if you have concerns with predator birds or need to enclose a small area. The fence material included with each fence kit has a 1" opening size. Modular add-ons are available to increase the size of your enclosure. Gates are also available separately.
These add on feral pig fence kits are designed to work with your existing wood, chain link or other type of conventional fencing, to make your existing fence higher. No-climb retrofit cat fence kits are available.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best feral pig fence?

The best type of feral pig fence is strong enough to keep feral pigs out without hurting them or getting them or other animals caught in the fence. This is a metal feral pig fence with a 2-inch or smaller opening size, overlapped and staked to the ground facing outside 6 to 12 inches.

How do I build a feral hog fence?

Feral pig fences are made of support posts, rolls of fencing material, and hardware. Ground sleeves are first driven into the ground with a sledgehammer. Posts then slide in the ground sleeves and are secured with locking set screws.

Fencing material is either attached to the posts directly with fence ties or attached to tension cables, which offer additional support. Feral pig fences can be buried at the bottom of the fence or overlapped and pinned to the ground with stakes to prevent feral pigs from pushing up under the fence.

What is the easiest feral pig fence to install?

The easiest feral-proof fence to install uses ground sleeves. The posts can be permanent or removable, though feral pig fences with tensioning are not removable. It's easier to remove a feral pig fence without overlap than one with overlap, but be advised that a feral pig fence without overlap does not prevent digging underneath.

Can feral pigs crawl under a fence?

Feral pigs can push up under a fence! Determined wild hogs will do almost anything to gain access to an area where there is food. To protect against digging, additional fencing is buried in the ground or overlapped and staked to the ground using ground stakes.

How much does a wild hog fence cost?

Wild hog fence kits will range in price from $1 a foot to $10 a foot or more, depending on the width and type of wild hog fence, and if you are purchasing rolls of feral pig fence only or a complete feral hog fence kit. Rolls of polypropylene feral pig fencing will cost less than an all-metal feral pig fence.
